Inspired by Yesika Salgado’s poem, What I Know.
when no one wants to hear you speak, you write
love is worth fighting for
lucky people get to travel the world
too many opinions of others cloud your judgement
how to enjoy solitude
all the addresses I’ve ever lived at
prayer solves an unsettled heart
you are an average of the five people you spend most of your time with
don’t judge people, rather understand them
sunrises are better than sunsets
the exact moment I knew I was really in love
there is no such thing as loving too much
one day, the people you love the most will die
humans chase materialistic pleasures of this world too much
the first sip of iced coffee is more fulfilling than the entire cup
friends like family do exist
you can fall in love more than once
people still don’t know the true definition of a feminist
people are dying all over the world for reasons that are avoidable
a good book is always enlightening
how to give something up merely because you want to
it’s easier to admit you are doing okay than talk about the reasons why you are not
what it feels like to experience something from another’s perspective
how not to care about what people think
eventually, people move on
change makes people uncomfortable
to settle is overrated
grief takes you to a very dark place
someone out there wishes they had the blessings I do
you have to find reason and purpose to keep moving forward
